Yeah, he's got a number of abilities which don't have much to do with each other, but all of which could be used in a trickstering fashion, so it made the most sense. XD

XD Bringing him in from an earlier canonpoint basically means I wouldn't have to micromanage him to the degree a character active in the metaplot might need. It also means he could get invested in different things; later canon means he's already invested in something, whereas in earlier canon he's just hiding and could be drawn out in different ways once in game. Flipside, later canon means his masks are already broken and he'd be potentially more open, even though he's interested in more specific things.
I think I might be leaning toward later canon, but not quite enough to say 'definitely' yet.
