Unfortunately, we would have to ask that you do not apply for Jane right now for the reason you mentioned. We don't feel there is enough canon about the Alpha kids yet to really make a judgment call on what they are like, and what their actual history is.
Aside from that, however, age is not an issue for characters! We have a few "under 18s" who are generally sent to study in the Library when they're in the Cave, but there is an option of them being given some sort of part-time job if they had one back in the City.
As for Aang, his bending would fit in well as a power to regain in the game with minimal tweaking necessary. Mostly we would be concerned about how much power he would have with those abilities. Otherwise, he sounds like quite an interesting choice!
